My new heart rate monitor

Monday, February 04, 2008

So i got a new heart rate monitor, i really like it. Its a MIO and of course its pink :P well as i thought since i weigh so little now I'm not burning as many calories as the cardio equipment says i am, which i knew all along, but i was kinda surprised to see that i was burning like 200 calories less than the equipment says and i work at max usually. ohwell! then today i thought for the heck of it i would wear while i was cleaning the house. i had a lot to do. so for 90mins of cleaning with an avg hr of 115 i burned 390 calories hahaha. i find that funny cause that doesnt feel like a workout to me since im not sweating at all. Im not going to include that into my cardio cause i dont feel like i worked out, but its good to know i burned an additional 390 :)

Thats GREAT. Keep up the cleaning! How do you figure the number of calories burnt by your HR?

Hi. I got the pink Mio heart rate monitor over a year ago, and could never figure out how to really use it, so I've never worn it. I'm glad to hear that housework activities burn so many calories.
Your article in the magzine was quite inspiring! Thanks for sharing your story.

I'm glad you like your HR monitor :-) I'm wearing mine again today, decided I need it for the motivation I guess :-) And you know what? I do record the short bouts of cardio/cleaning when I know I'm doing it nonstop and I'm seriously short of breath - I'm not sweating though. I know I"m working!! Or if I'm vacuuming the entire house - which includes moving furniture and doing the edges and stuff :-) I was so mad when I used my watch while on the says I burn SO much less than the SP says, and the elliptical itself only says I'm burning like 10 calories. I HAVE NO IDEA. It sucks. Here, here's some motivation for me today :-) I'll get on it again this afternoon and let you know the 3 different amounts of calories I get that I burn :-) I just go with what the SP menu says, becuase it's more :-) and because if I take the less amounts, I'd be a bit devastated and not want to continue using that piece of equipment which would lead me to stop my quest of being skinny like you :-)

Hi brookie how are you? Looks like you are doin well. Listen I sparkmailed you about 2-3 weeks ago and have not heard back but since then I am encountering some problems with my workout. I have seemed to hit a plateau and cant seem to get passed it. Not only that I seem to lose and gain back the same 6 pounds. I have been in the 180 since mid december and cant seem to break it. What do you suggest if any thing I am at my wits end by now. I need some serious help. I dont have a gym at home just cardio dvd's and I do have treadmill usage. Can you help me get out of this rut please. I am askin you because you started at the weight I am at now, please advise if you don't mind. LOL Lisa
