Tonight for dinner,
Doing something I haven't done
For a long time. Making a recipe
Based on my own ideas
Instead of adapting or tweaking
A recipe from somewhere else.
Good now, as I'm able to take
Flavors I've learned by cooking
Other cuisines, to make more
Flavorful, healthy foods.
Before I'd think of healthy food
As being boring, bland and monotonous.
But I'm realizing that doesn't have to be so.
The use of things like garlic, ginger,
Lemon, and spices can make
A dish extraordinary while
Adding only good elements to the food.
Not to mention, many spices, especially
In Indian cooking, are there not only
For flavor, but for health benefits as well.
So add the ginger, garlic, lemon and spice
Is what I will do, and continue
Creating new dishes for this new chapter
Of my life.
