Jump Rope Follies

Monday, January 28, 2008

Several weeks or so ago I posted an article about the benefits of jumping rope.

Well I decided it was time for me to walk the talk and bought a jump rope.

Now I knew it would be a challenge, but I had no CLUE as to what a KLUTZ I am...! I couldn't get beyond one swing for several tries, and after 10 minutes or so I was only successful in perhaps up to 10 rotations before tripping up!

And the thunder of my trip-ups had all 4 of my cats galloping into the living room to find out what strange herd of animals had come trooping through the house!

Luckily, no one else was around to witness this embarrassment, other than the cats who were only too willing to give their incredulous looks of "what in the WORLD is he doing NOW?!?!"

Well I'm determined not to allow my jump rope gather too much dust...will keep at it and see how I do....sheesh! :-)

Yeah, there's nothing quite like having your cats watch you exercise. On the few occasions when I've gotten down on the floor to do stretches, my cats all gather around me like mourners at a wake.

"Is she dead?"
"I don't know. Maybe we should call the paramedics."
"How are we going to dial the phone without fingers."
"Good point. Hey, isn't it time to eat?"

Hi Don - love this blog entry! I can just see the expressions on your cats' faces. (By the way, have you ever visited I'm glad to see you're still Sparkin' and trying new things in your fitness journey! I got some new dumbbells in the mail this week myself. Now I don't have to wait for gym visits to work my arms. Blessings today, Michelle/ZellaZM

LOL! I wouldn't even try in my house - too many breakables - good for you going for it! And I hear ya about the cats - I have 14, and they still think it is fun to sit on my back when doing push-ups, or jump on my belly when doing crunches. Definitely adds some flavor to my work-outs!!!
