Squishie Turtle Progress Report

Saturday, January 05, 2008

Well the holidays are over and I managed to loose weight during them. This is really a big deal for me and probably for most of you that are on this healthy journal. I was reveiwing my progress and while I have lost 20 pounds I have still only lost about 2.5 inches on my hips and waist and nothing on my neck. I just feel like I should be losing more inches and I am not sure why I am not. Am I still loosing water weight at this time? I joined a gym but only temporarily. I have an 8 week trial pass so I should get an idea of whether I like gyms or not. I must say it is nice to work on equipement that is new and up to date. My treadmill works fine but it is kind of fun to use one that has more bells and whistles on it. So the Squishie Turtle continues to make progress but at a pace that is maddening at time. I love that other people have great weight loss but I sure would like a 3 or 4 pound loss one week. But as I keep reminding myself this is not a race but this turtle just wishes it could be a rabbit once in awhile. LOL!!!

    Hey Nera!
I agree with Cat--strength training has helped me out. I switch days, where I'll use either my hand weights or ankle weights when Granny Dancing. I'm pretty sure that's what has helped me along.

I can so realte to wanting more faster. Its the american way of thinking. Remember it took you years to put it on allow some time to take it off. As for the inches have you tried strength training? increasing your muscle mass will help the inches tone and firm - burn more calories over all daily whcih means you lose fat and as you lose the fat the muscle underneath will make you look better - overall making you feel better. I only do very light weights - i am not wanting to bulk up just tone - I use 6 pounds on my arms and do 3 - 4 reps of 8 - 10 each. I noticed certain arm str. routines that enhanced the muscles in my neck so mabe ask a trainer at the gym what would work best for what you want?
