Ugh...
Missed too many cardio days (only six, but felt like SIXTY!) and allowed myself too many carbies. I struggle to figure out exactly HOW I let things go and I guess it was just too much of a shake up in my routine combined with ongoing sneezies (allergies? cold? who knows...) ALSO, during the flurry of house cleaning before we left I managed to smash my big toe (which was still purple from my previous bad shoe experience) so badly that it appeared that the nail might be lost...the jury is still out on that one.
Anyhow, I sound like I'm whining, don't I? I am so disappointed in myself as I had such a head of steam going into the holidays and had been eyeing up some respectable goals for myself which are all pretty much unattainable now.
I again was surprised over how difficult it was to crawl back into my routine, which I've been following for the last two days now. It was sobering to get a whiff over how easy it would be to just let it all go and slide back into the "dead zone!" I planned to weigh myself today to scare myself into high gear this week, but our nurse is on vacation and the scale is locked up. I think I'm frightened enough of the potential number slide to whip myself into action, tho... :-) I think there IS something to be said for the *muscles* we develop when we crawl back from the precipice yawning by our side...which is always there, but when we give into old, unhealthy habits our awareness of the danger is heightened.
But now I am BACK in control, gearing up for my New Year's Eve, which is always a blast walking all over town enjoying First Night. If anyone is fortunate enough to live in or near a town that observes First Night, you owe it to yourselves to get out and celebrate the New Year's in style with loads of fun and active entertainment!
