A Very Happy Thanksgiving!

Wednesday, November 21, 2007

I am most thankful for the people in my life and the health to give back to them the support and appreciation for the times they had to take care of me because I was not healthy.

Almost 14 years ago, I had cancer. That same year both my father and my grandmother died. I was a single mother at the time. It was probably the toughest single year of my life. My children and friends got me through it and for that I am ever thankful.

About 6 years ago I was in menopause. At the time I thought I didn't really have much in the way of symptoms and that I was handling it just fine. In hindsight I now realize that for a couple of years I was a crazy woman emotionally and put my husband through hell. He stuck by me and weathered the storm. He got me through it and for that I am ever thankful.

About 3 years ago I was diagnosed with auto-immune thyroiditis. The worst symptom was extreme fatigue. Simple things like taking a shower and getting dressed would exhaust me. My husband had to do everything, housecleaning, cooking, errands, etc., because I just didn't have the energy or strength to help. He took over without complaint. For that I am ever thankful.

Today I am healthier than I have been in the last 15 years. I am thankful that I can do for others what they have done for me so often in the last 15 years.

    Hi NancyJac,
I was really impressed at your hard work. I am in the same boat, as have lost 176lbs and am looking for a few friends whom know what it is to really lose alot of weight with the plus and minus sides it carries. If you interested drop me a note or two. It would sure mean alot to know others whom have been there and done that too.
cheers
Rena

Nancy, it is wonderful that you had friends and family to help you through your rough times. I know you have given back a lot in the last year just to your Spark friends, if no one else! I'm so glad you are healthy now and able to help others. You are quite an inspiration to me and I am thankful to know you. Rosy

You certainly have a lot to be thankful for! What a tribute to your family and friends and your sweet hubby! It's great that you are healthy now and can look back and recognize how ill you really were and what you have done personally to get your life back. You are quite an inspiration for anyone visiting your SparkPage or reading your blogs and you are always ready to help anyone who asks for it!
Your Sparkfriend Sheryl
