I am most thankful for the people in my life and the health to give back to them the support and appreciation for the times they had to take care of me because I was not healthy.
Almost 14 years ago, I had cancer. That same year both my father and my grandmother died. I was a single mother at the time. It was probably the toughest single year of my life. My children and friends got me through it and for that I am ever thankful.
About 6 years ago I was in menopause. At the time I thought I didn't really have much in the way of symptoms and that I was handling it just fine. In hindsight I now realize that for a couple of years I was a crazy woman emotionally and put my husband through hell. He stuck by me and weathered the storm. He got me through it and for that I am ever thankful.
About 3 years ago I was diagnosed with auto-immune thyroiditis. The worst symptom was extreme fatigue. Simple things like taking a shower and getting dressed would exhaust me. My husband had to do everything, housecleaning, cooking, errands, etc., because I just didn't have the energy or strength to help. He took over without complaint. For that I am ever thankful.
Today I am healthier than I have been in the last 15 years. I am thankful that I can do for others what they have done for me so often in the last 15 years.
