I was so excited for this race, mainly because it was the anniversary run of my very first 5K. Another reason was because my friends and family were joining me! It's wonderful to know that I've inspired others to run/walk, it was so much fun!
This event was like 'deja-vu'. Except this year I was pre-registered, and I got a t-shirt (although it's XL) The weather was beautiful, just over 40F and sunny.
Training for this race didn't go as planned. I had hoped to beat 30 minutes and my time was 31:09. I was still thrilled since I had shaved off 11 seconds off my previous PR.
Comparing my results to last years' I ran a minute faster per mile!
The food again was impressive, pizza, subs, hotdogs - hot 'Tim Horton's' coffee and timbits before and after our event. This was a local fundrasing event for 'Community Living', the local businesses are so generous - everything was donated. This fundraiser holds a special place in my heart since this group will give my Nicholas support when he's older.
This was my last event of the year! I now have to plan out my winter training plan and get ready for the Spring Thaw where I will break that 30 minute mark.
