Today after our church's worship team practice--getting familiar with the main songs we'll be singing during Advent--my husband, my stepdaughter & I went to a favorite brunch place. It was a send-off for V., since later in the afternoon she would be flying off to New Jersey (right near New York City) to visit a cousin & work with her in a catering job.

I was going to write about the wonderful food we ate, but then I erased that paragraph because it could make us all feel hungry for things that are highly calorie-laden. :-) Instead I'll just say that I was happy when I tracked today's food & tallied calories just now--I stayed within my range! It's because even though I ate rich food, I ate only half or less of each item & brought the rest home. (Breakfast will be yummy tomorrow!) AND I am not eating supper tonight--I'll just find something light to eat before my husband & I sit down to watch a movie together.

Afterward we took V. to Midway Airport & saw her through the security checkpoint. She will be gone for at least a month, we expect--maybe longer if things go well for her there. We're really enjoyed having her stay with us, but it will be kinda nice to be empty nesters & have plenty of privacy again, at least for a while.

I hope your step-daughter has a great time! I'm glad that you'll get some alone time with your hubby though too! That will be nice for a while. Thanks for not posting the food. Leftovers are always yummy!!!

I love a good meal. It's great that you get to enjoy it twice. That's wonderful will power on your part. I'm proud of you. I hope your step-daughter has a great time in New Jersey and you and your husband enjoy your alone time. Alone time is precious.

Sounds like an enjoyable day. Good for you - using portion control even though we've loosened up a bit until the "restart" tomorrow. The last couple of days I've noticed I'm automatically making better choices - but also see it would be easy to slide back into old habits after a while. I think the long term consistency does help with making better choices. I certainly need a lot more time with a support group to solidify some healthy lifestyle habits.

Hope you enjoyed the movie - and enjoy your time alone with hubby.
