this is so confusing!
i realize that i need to get atleast 1200 cals a day, for my body to function properly. i don't mind getting up to 1500 either, but they say i should have between like 1900 and 2300! i played with my menu a bit today to see if i could change somethings but in order to get everything right i had to have atleast 1700 cals. i'm sure i could do it correcty if i followed their meal plan, but i just don't eat most of that stuff, and i can live cheaply if i continue to eat the things that will last me all week, not a hundred different things for a week. i just go to the store, buy my cereal, my salad stuff, my fruits, and my lean cuisines. it's too depressing to think about! maybe if i brought my fitness down then the numbers would go down, and what ever i do more than that will just be a plus and not one of my goals. i feel like i've been doing really well, but i also want to make sure i am giving my body what it needs. it really shouldn't be this difficult!

I find that if you bulk up on fiber for the first meal & snacks, you stave off hunger a lot longer, and it helps you stay under your goal. (1500 for me.)

I was told to follow what they are telling you for calories based on your goal date and weight. They also adjust it based on activity level too. So far so good for me. I try to stay around 1500 calories though because I was way too hungry around 1200 calories given my activity level. Good luck! Munching on veggies is good, they are crunchy and you can have a lot for lower calories. High protein is good too. Fills you up. Just look for protein that isn't packed too much with bad fats and high calories! But go back to your tools and adjust your plan that way.

Hey hun, try odwalla bars as well. They have about 220 cals and are so yummy. They make me feel like i am having something I shouldnt, but they are jam packed with good stuff. It might be a good snack choice and help u get all ur cals in :)

Sorry to hear you growling--and it's not your tummy!! Don't know if this might help, but I read on a thread after each 10-15 pounds that you lose, you need to go back into your profile set-up and "request" for a "adjustment" or update--check your date that you set as meeting your goal weight. Supposedly the further out you have it, SP has it set up, so the weight loss will be gradual to meet that. If you move your date sooner, the food guideline changes. (Mine shows me to aim 1200-1550 daily calories.)
Now-Ya big Goober! I'm supposed to be your bud, here! Give me a shout the next time you're feeling growly!! Don't make me read it a day later, on your blog!! Take Care, Kiddo!! I was good today!!

Relax hun, this is a learning process. Most of us have not eaten healthy for most of our lives. Focus on your health, and making good habits, that is the bottom line. The rest will follow in time.
I have trouble getting all of my fruits and veggies for the day as well. I find that having v-8 with a grahm cracker for a snack helps. Also, the new V-8 fusion is pretty good. One 8 oz glass counts as 1 fruit AND 1 veggie! It does not have the heavy texture of the regular V-8, so don't be afraid to try it. I like the one with blueberry in it. I have found that Walmart is the most reasonable place to buy it.
Remember, journeys take time, don't forgeet to enjoy the trip!

Heather, I glanced at your food tracker for the past couple days. I was stuck by a couple of things. One is that you are VERY low in carbs. Take a look at your pie and the percentages for your fats, carbs and proteins. Compare your pie with that of SP's suggested pie. Second you are light on veggies and fruits. You can bring up your carbs (and calories if need be) by making sure that you have a serving of fruit for each meal. I did notice that you do eat fruits as snacks and that's fine but try to aim for three a day. Also see if you can get more veggies. The lettuce and tomatoes are great. These are just suggestions.
I guess SP wants you to consume more calories because you appear to be very active. That's great and something I need to work on.
Keep up your good work. Remember this is a life-long work in progress.
