Now I remember why not to get too hungry!!

Tuesday, October 09, 2007

I help DH in his dental office. We take lunch from 1 to 2 PM and eat breakfast at about 6:30 in the morning. Many days my standard morning oatmeal and peanut butter breakfast holds me. Some times when I am smart I take fruit or another snack with me. Sometimes I break down and make a packet of oatmeal.

But today!
At 1 I ran for my PT session (rehab on a knee). They had me do extra time on the cardio machine. I did not get out until almost 3. I was starving!! I found "supportive" DH brought me a BLT sandwich with mustard and tater tots. I was a good girl and threw away the taters. I ended up eating the whole sandwich and then a packet of oatmeal. Tonight he is spinning (I am icing my knee). He wants me to meet him at a Pho restaurant at 8. I am so very hungry. I am being good - so far I've eaten a peach, a small can of V8 and a bag of popcorn and lots of water.

I'm not in trouble since I am typing not eating but I know that struggling should not be necessary!

Lesson learned and relearned - don't get too hungry, be prepared with snacks at work and buy more vegetables. (I need to write it down so I'll remember it next time!)

I had a BLTG (w/guacamole) today myself and ONLY 1/2 of the fries. I'd had salad at lunch all last week, so we were both sort of attacked by BLTs, weird. I do agree that when I'm starved I can be weak and cave. Hopefully, you can be prepared with the good food you need. Today was the first day I did my nutrition tracker and was totally shocked to see the calories that my little indulgence added up to. So, I'm back to the healthy salad myself. Best of luck in, as the Boy Scouts know, preparedness.
