My trouble goal action step

I guess my biggest trouble goal is exercise. About a year and a half ago I was in a very serious car accident and was pretty messed up for a while. As a result, I am in a wheelchair and I have a colostomy and an ileostomy. I can't exercise as much or as vigorously as I would like. I do a water fitness class 3 days a week which has been a God send and I wheel around the neighborhood several days a week, but I just don't feel like it's enough. I am limited not only by the wheelchair but any strain on my stomach could be disasterous. I am very near my goal weight and want to be in the best physical shape possible when the doctor's are ready to put "Humpty Dumpty" back together again.

    What courage and what a wonderful attitude you have! I myself cannot do much exercise without doing myself in - somehow, my blood system cannot deliver enough oxygen to my mitochondria, so if I use up my quota of oxygen, I may be in bed for several days until the oxygen can be replaced. I try to eat less to make up for the low usage of calories this causes. Someone suggested that I eat no more than 1000 calories a day, though SparkPeople would not approve of this. But people in wheelchairs most of the times or those of us with very low burning of calories seem unable to keep weight off with a much higher calorie count. The 1000 calories a day has helped me, and luckily my weight does seem to come off my stomach first. Otherwise, it sounds like maybe ab exercises really might be dangerous for you. Good luck!
