Slowing Down

Saturday, October 06, 2007

Last night I entered this in my journal here at the house. I think I am getting a little discouraged. Weight is stopping to come off quickly. Two weeks in a row, my weight was the same and then the next it was only a pound loss. I am having problems focusing on what I am trying to do and the challange is not eating ice cream that is filled in our frigerator. My daoughter just tells me to think of the goal. Think of those good things and that I am (Me) is in control. Today, I have added some articles to my spark page to help me when I get discouraged. So then,.... Lets finish. Or at least MOVE FORWARD and ONWARD.

Hi Cherije! I know what you mean about slow or no progress with weight loss. I have endured a plateau that lasted about 3 months at one point in my journey. I have learned that even if you stay within your calories daily, your body will grow accustomed to your activity level and won't progress. Try switching up what your activity is and you will start to see more results that way. Hope this helps you out! :)

From what almost everyone I know who's been through this, it's normal to have these types of slowdowns. With MS I imagine it's that much harder. I'm new at this, but from my smoke-ending experience, I think the best thing you can do is not to think too far ahead and to focus on the good things you see right now -- like maybe your weight is the same, but perhaps you feel stronger or more energetic.

Hang in there!

You can do this! If you are having a hard time yet still losing (however small), or maintaining, then that's good news. Anytime you feel discouraged, remember your progrees so far, and where you're going to be in the future when you stick to your plan. It's great that you have your favourite motivational articles bookmarked to reinspire you. Think how proud you will be when you get to your goals, and be proud of what you have achieved so far. :o)
