Lane Bryant

Saturday, August 18, 2007

I've shopped at Lane Bryant (plus-size woman's clothing store) since about 2001? Something like that. It's a bit spendy for me, but my husband and I went in there yesterday to look at bras. Most of mine are too big now! I don't remember asking to drop a cup size, but whatever!

Has anyone been in recently? Apparently for their "right fit" jeans they have changed the sizes all around. I am now a size 4, yellow. Size 4? Ok, if I am a REAL size 4 that will make me feel good, but a LB size 4? That doesn't exactly have the same ring to it.

I also like how I'm "yellow" now, which is basically a synonym for "you have no hips or butt!" They have red if you're sorta curvy, and blue if you are really curvy.

My real size? 18-20. Maybe one day it will go down, but I'm not going to hold my breath until (if) I get to size 4. Because that could be awhile!

Although, I have to say, I have never had a pair of jeans that fit me as well as my size 4, yellow. Usually around the legs and hips it is way too huge. Like just because I have a large waist must mean I also have big thighs and legs too. So I'm actually really grateful for some cute new jeans for $40! (hey, that's splurging for me!)

If it makes you feel any better, I'm an 8 yellow according to lane bryant, but a 22 at old navy. I have to agree, though, these jeans were well bought. They're great. And, since their regular length seems to run long (I have to buy long everywhere else) when they get too big I'm going to try and hot-water shrink them. They should have enough length left that I'll get a bit more wear out of them then, too!

That is very strange. I rarely go in there because they are so expensive but I have bought bras there that have lasted years and years. They have a website that is called like woman within or something and my mom got a GORGEOUS dress on there so i might have to go in and see. That is a very strange way to categorize color? I don't know if you've ever been there but the store Torrid does sizes like that too like a large is just a 1 and a 1x is a 2. I used to shop there before I lost weight the first time. isn't it weird how in stores the plus size is always called the "womens" section and like regular sizes are just misses or whatever...thats always been weird to me.

I too shop at the LB and they are pricey. I decided not to shop though until I absolutely have to.... but weird that they changed all their sizes around. Guess it's good to know what to expect if I actually go shopping!

Wow that's weird! I remember posting a blog after I walked into Lane Bryant to shop and then realized that I couldn't wear any of their stuff anymore and I was like "Where am I going to get cute NICER clothes now?" :P I started at a size 18/20 and I am in an 8 or 10 now depending on the brand. Our Maurices in our small town just started carrying CUTE plus sized clothing and I thought "What the heck? NOW you carry this?" And I saw that they were sizing them 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. too so that must be the new thing for plus sized clothing? Weird! But YAY on finding a great pair of fitting jeans! I always LOVED LB jeans and wish I could find a good pair that sits high enough, but not too high on my waist and just overall FITS good like LB!!!

Check out Avenue if you have one near you...their clothes are TOO cute! Of course, I'm getting to the point that their sizes are too big, but that's a GOOD thing, right? LOL!
