Only did a few "productive" things today. I have not heard back from either of the parents that I contacted about using them as a reference. I decided to use 3 people from the school, and went ahead and filled out the application for the job at the university. It's a salaried position. There wasn't much to fill out on the first page (it was all online) but you had to upload your resume (not a problem since I've had to recently update it!) and a cover letter. Now, I had cover letters for the various school districts I'd been applying to. But this is a slightly different job description. I worked for about an hour trying to get my letter straight. I sort of pieced together information from a couple of my previous cover letters. After I finished it, I called a friend (who helps people find jobs) and read her my letter. She offered some pointers, I revised my letter, and uploaded it. I got a confirmation email back from the university, saying they got my application and both of the documents I attached. The posting closes on Friday, so I hope to hear from them soon -- but the university usually takes eons. (I've applied before to other jobs before I was teaching.)
I got a letter from the state in the mail -- I believe my unemployment was approved. I called another friend of mine to ask them if that's what it meant, but they haven't gotten back with me yet.
I also received a clothing catalog in the mail from a company I've never heard of before: 'Monroe and Main'. A lot of their stuff is made in the U.S., which means it's extremely expensive. I'm mentioning the catalog, because as I was parousing through it, I found a dress that I really like...and it's available in black. Now, you have to understand that I don't wear dresses. But I'm going to buy one in December for reaching my 'medium weight' goal. Also -- this dress is $99, and I am not at all likely to purchase it from this company(that doesn't even include shipping). I would never pay $99 for any piece of clothing! But if I could find something similar to it at the store, at a decent price, then I would be inclined to make a purchase.
It's early yet; I'm going to be taking Cassie out for a walk later. Gizmo will stay here -- it's too humid for her. I haven't even worn my new tennis shoes yet...I'd like to try them out!
Still not doing much with the water, and I haven't been tracking much food -- but I am being careful what I do eat. I did go to Wal-Mart while I was out, and bought some 'light' cream cheese spread for the rest of my celery sticks that I have left. And I even found some 100 calorie Doritos! They're pretty tasty, too!
Other than that, there's not much else going on. I checked online with the one school district left that had an opening, and it isn't listed on their website anymore. They do have some high school postings, but my certification stops at 9th grade. So unless they have classes specifically for 9th graders, I'm done. The only thing I have left now is the position at the university.
I did get some of the paperwork back that I need to send to TN. Still waiting for one more piece. Then I'll pack up all that stuff and mail it out. I'll also be writing a stupid $3 check to the community college I got my associate's degree from, so that they will send a copy of my transcript to TN.
