A story of ice cream in a power outage
DH found this incredible ice cream - called unconditional chocolate. He bought it several times while I was travelling, and had a pint for dinner each time. So when I returned, he bought another pint.
I wouldn't touch it. Wouldn't share it. I don't want ice cream that weighs in at 290 cals per 1/2 cup.
"It's just for an emergency," he said. Hah. His kind of emergency. It happened today.
We had an island-wide power outage. Something exploded or caught ffire at the power plant. No electricity from 4 PM to 11:30 PM. The entire 32 sq mile island.
So DH comes home from work. And immediately opens the ice cream. Because it will melt without the electricity.
This constitutes an ice cream emergency.
DH sits in the chair, moaning in pleasure with each bite. Reading the carton's description between bites. I took a moment to walk over, take the spoon, tell him "one bite only" - I took one teaspoonful (or so) - and tasted - Oh yeah, this is the way I like my ice cream - dark and chocolatey and full of stuff - MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM - and I handed him the spoon, and I walked away.
THAT is willpower. Enough to light up my end of the island.
