November Goals Recap
Eating - My goal: Eat a home cooked meal at least 5 days out of the week. I will continue, for now to eat a few meals a week from Blue Apron but I might try a different meal delivery service.
What actually happened: I was doing well with this until I got hurt while working out at the Y plus the week of Thanksgiving was crazy busy so I only did 2 weeks, I think out of the month where we ate a home cooked meal for dinner.
Continue going to the YMCA - My goal: I want to continue walking or maybe driving to the Y depending upon whether there's snow and/or ice out. If the weather is really bad I can make do with the few pieces of fitness equipment we have here at our apartment complex. Hoping I won't have to though.
What actually happened: Like I said I got hurt while exercising at the Y. I was doing hyper-extensions and felt a pop in my lower abdomen. I finished exercising even though I was in some pain. However, as the day progressed it became more painful. The next day I was in a fair amount of pain and was able to see my doctor that day. She examined me and felt sure I had either broken a rib or dislocated a rib. Unfortunately, the only thing you can do for either is not exercise and take something for the pain. Oh and I caught a cold the week of Thanksgiving too which didn't help.
Strength Training - My goal:Continue with the 16 week strength training program. I am starting my 6th week but my shoulder still isn't 100% healed so I need to be careful about how much weight I am lifting. I hurt my hand a few weeks before that so I bought some weight lifting gloves to help protect my hand when I put the barbell back on the rack.
What actually happened: I had to stop strength training once I got hurt. Also, I was doing ST 4 days a week and I think it was just too much for me.
Drums Alive or another class - My goal: Continue going to the Drums Alive class at the Y as much as I can. If I can't go for some reason or if I want to change things up a little I might try a different type of class at the Y.
What actually happened: I never got a chance to go to any of the classes due to doctor appointments, an appointment to get my hair done and of course after getting hurt I couldn't go.
Stretching - My goal: I need to start stretching after I exercise more and get on the inversion table at least once a day to stretch my back.
What actually happened: I was doing well with this until I got hurt. I couldn't even get on the inversion table after I got hurt. It's only recently that I've been able to get on the inversion table.
Compassion - My goal: I need to continue to practice more self-compassion.
What actually happened: I actually did well with this the entire month of November.
Goals for December
Eating: Eat a home cooked meal at least 5 days out of the week. We'll be moving at the end of December so I'm not sure if it will happen the last week or not but I will do my best to make it happen.
Exercising: Since this month is going to be a busy month and I'm still kind of getting over my cold I decided to take it kind of easy. I decided to do one of Nia Shanks' strenght training programs from "Lift Like a Girl". The one I'm doing is just 2 days a week but I think it's going to be perfect for me for this month. I might do some yoga this month and go to the Drums Alive class if I'm feeling up to it. Will have to figure out what I'm going to do once we move. I know what I want to do but I don't know what gyms are available near where we'll be moving to.
Stretching: Continue to use my inversion table each day, if at all possible and use the stretch trainer at the Y when I go to the Y to do strength training.
Meditation: Meditating always helps me get through the stressful times and my goal is to do this a minimum of once a week. Ideally, I'd like to do it at least 5 days a week but not sure if that will happen or not.
