Day 341: Looking Good

Thursday, December 07, 2017

Had my one-week (well, one week plus one day) follow-up with the opthalmologist today and he's very happy with how everything is looking. So I am cleared to exercise fully again, woot! I've been walking, but no running or biking - or yoga since I haven't been allowed to bend over...they don't want you doing anything that might cause the blood to rush to your head because I guess that can mess with the pressure of your eye. Anyhow, I'm still not allowed to wear eye makeup, boo - risk of infection - but I no longer have to wear the shield on my eye at night, yay! And I get to start ratcheting down on the eyedrops. By the time I'm done with them, I'll be doing drops for my other eye - cataract surgery #2 will be on the 18th.

It looks like I may only have one more week of work in 2017!

I'm working next week, and then taking the following Mon-Wed (18th-20th) off for the surgery. I was going to work Thurs/Fri (21st-22nd) and then we're closing the office for xmas week because we were only going to have to be here Wed/Thurs that week anyhow (we get two holidays for xmas and two for new year's). But now they're shutting down the computer system for maintenance on Fri the 22nd, which means we basically can't work that day, and I guess the boss is saying he may just shut down on the 21st. If that happens, next Friday will be my last day of work till Tue Jan. 2nd!

Then I'll be diving in, never fear - I work for the state Legislature and session starts back up again on Jan. 4th. Back to dress clothes and heels, boo!

Other than that, keeping an eye on those terrible fires in Southern California (nowhere near me)...it's just awful, how destructive all the fires have been this year. Amazing, the havoc a five-year drought can wreak.

Well, I keep getting sidetracked by actual work, gasp, so I suppose I'd better get back to it. Happy Thursday!
