I am married to a sports nut, and we have season tickets for both the football and baseball teams in Vancouver. We NEVER eat dinner before we head to the game, usually because there's no time between work and game time. And if it's a weekend, eating downtown is part of the fun of the game, at least for my hubby.
Stadium food? Borders on the murderous in terms of fat and calories, as well as being an enormous ripoff.
However, there are strategies. Our baseball stadium now serves sushi, so I'll be turning to the raw fish and rice instead of the all-dressed burgers. (Or I could get a plain burger - no cheese or bacon - and dress it myself with mustard and pickles, I suppose.) No french fries. Bring a water bottle and fill it myself, to save the $3.00 for a bottle of Dasani, which is just tap water anyway.
Same water bottle strategy for the football. And since we usually eat in an actual restaurant before the game, it'll be easy enough to order a salad with some protein atop for dinner.
Avoiding the beer is really not a problem for me, so yay for that.
