Still walking...

Monday, June 25, 2007

I needed to put this in writing because for about 5 seconds I'm impressed wiht myself...

the month of way I walked a grand total of 213 miles, which was just over 6 miles per day.

With 6 days left to go in June, I've managed to put in 213 miles so far, which is averaging to be 8 miles a day...

is it ok if i complain that my feet hurt

that inch I think I've lost in height, i'm pretty sure now I'm making up for in callouses on my feet - they alreay were fred flintstone like to begin with - they are much worse now

ten to add in a bitch and whine

There's a quote I read somewhere, from some book, I think it was one o the jennifer weiner chick lit garbage books, something to the effect that shoe shopping was great because no matter what size you were, shoes always fit...

I have to disagree.

I have Fred Flintsone feet and have pretty much always had them - My toes are all the same length and my feet are long... So I wear pretty big shoes.. an 11Wide.

I've had two pairs of the same shoe that I've been wearing for walking for the past few months - that I've loved -they fit right, the arches were perfect and well they had enough flexibility in the sole that I did't get blisters.. but guess what -they don't make them anymore - and froogle and google have been unhelpful in finding a similar pair in the right size.

So, since these shoes are basically at the end of their shelf life I've been experimenting with other shoes - to a very expensive failure experiment.. I've bought the damn shoes at the end of the day when my feet are supposed to be the biggest, wearing very thick socks - and the shoes fit -but try to walk more than 6 miles in them and I'm screwed..

Not happy right now and getting a little concerned that I'm not gooing to have the right shoes for the big walk - or for the rest of training come to think of it.. plus it's getitng expensive buying shoes that I can't wear for more than a few miles... cripes I could wear high heels for a few m iles if I needed to but not for 60... maybe barefoot?

Oh I hate shoe shopping...

2 weeks ago -I spent 70 dollars on a pair of shoes -that gave me a whopping huge blister that exploded and still hasn't fully healed on my ankle (I still don't know how to get blood out of sneakers

Last week I spent 65 dollars on another pair of sneakers that felt great in the store -I wore them 2 nights home from work and for 6 miles they were fine - Saturday - for 17 miles -my arches were killing me...

this testing process for what's good for thelong haul is expensive..

whine whine whine..
it's not like you can return worn sneakers - I've asked

I have big feet too. I have to wear 11 in a mens to get a high enough arch and a wide enough width and it is trickey to find shoes that don't look to manish. But I have been finding my best shoes at marshalls and have never paid over $30 a pair. They have named brands too. I find the converse and the new balance to be the most comfortable and the longest lasting. The converse I have gotten as cheap as $10 a pair there and the last pair of new balance I bought where $30 which is the most I have ever had to pay. these same exact shoes where $65 at foot locker. So If you have a marshells near you , you may want to check it out.
