One of my teams has a Daily Challenge - everyone just posts a challenge whenever it strikes them, and everyone tries to meet the challenge. Today I sugested we each do something fit, healthy, and fun. Thinking that a parent could play outside with their child, or I could skip down the sidewalk, or someone could splurge on a low-cal popsicle.
I was wracking my brain trying to think of a fun fit thing to do today - it presented itself. I just finished my "fun" exercise - though it was more like funny.
I schlepped 4 empty boxes to my classroom. These are not normal empty boxes. These are boxes from Promethean boards - those electronic whiteboards that are so cool. The boards are 4 x 6 feet - so the boxes are maybe 4.5 x 6.5? And full of big styrofoam.
I need the boxes and styrofoam for Carnival decorations, stage sets and backdrops, etc. So I need the boxes!
So - the fun part - I grab a box and take it out of the office. I drag it around the building to the ramp, and go down one level with it. (This is all outside.) The ramp doesn't continue in the direction I go - so I drag the box down the balcony to the area just upstairs from my classroom door. I lean the box on the railing, bend over and grab the bottom, push up, and flip the box over the railing into space - and it falls and falls, about 20 ft, and BAM lands right in front of my door.
I crack up laughing - it's just kind of crazy. I go back to the office for boxes 2 through 4 - giggling the whole time. One box at a time goes flying over the railing, as if it's jumping off a bridge. The custodian watching me on box #4 yells out "There she goes!" as it sails down. A few summer school kids watch, and they're laughing too. Giant boxes flying through the air.
I then went down the stairs to my room, opened up, and dragged each box in and managed to wedge them all into my kiln room. It's dry in there, so the cardboard keeps better.
50 minutes. Schlepping empty boxes. Pretending they were lemmings.
