One of my teammates posts daily thoughts and inspirations to keep us on our fitness journey - today was "Discovery." Discovering our bodies, our strengths, our limitations. Re-discovering parts of ourselves that we may have forgotten, or neglected in our daily living. And allowing our weight loss progress to be the impetus for discovering other changes we might want to make in other parts of our lives.
That last sentence struck a chord for me. On another team, another teammate suggested a 3 month, 3 way challenge - each person establishes goals encompassing 3 areas: mental, physical, and spiritual. And during the 3 months, we work toward achieving those goals.
Isn't it amazing that when we start improving our bodies, we start looking for ways to improve other parts of our lives? It's as if the drive to create our personal best body and personal healthiest body spills over into a drive to be the personal best self - at work, at play, in relationships, mentally, emotionally, spiritually - ALL of it! Never ceases to amaze me.
And it also keeps amazing me how complacent I let myself become before this transformation began.
