I returned from my trip on Thursday night and started the cleanse on Friday morning. Thursday, DH and I went out for mexican food...full of lots of yummy, likely reactive stuff...corn tortillas, tomato based salsa, tortilla chips, cheese, rice with chicken in same meal. Friday morning I weighed in and had lost 0.6 pounds. Hummmmm. Let's see...restaurant food for 3 days, mega stress from a crucial board exam, traveling and not getting enough exercise...and I LOST 0.6 pounds? The mexican food was a splurge, yes, but other than that, I ate ok...not great...ok.
Fast forward 4 days...I finished the 3 day cleanse and did not drop an ounce.
136.8 the morning after mexican food
137.2 after Day 1 cleanse
137 after Day 2 cleanse (not enough water?)
137 after Day 3 cleanse (burned veggies)
136.8 after Day 9 (chickpea test)
It looks like I had a delayed response to the corn. Either that, or the s. mushrooms are reactive for me. The first time I did Day 1, I had shiitake mushrooms and only lost 0.2 lbs (reactive.) I also had red wine vinegar (½ tsp) the first time I did Day 1, but not the second time. Red wine vinegar could be reactive. I do fine with the Bragg dressing, which also has apple cider vinegar. So the mushrooms are looking suspect now.
I think I was a little under on my water intake on Day 2. The rest of the days, were clean...no exercise during cleanse, 70 oz of water + ice due to heat (110 range), no added salt. I did accidentally burn my roasted veggies on Day 3 (oven set too high.) I salvaged what I could from them. The charring is likely a culprit, as it might have been with the steak on Day 6.
So it looks like I need to
1. do another friendly day and don't burn anything (re-doing day 4 today, as that was my best day so far)
2. re-test chickpeas at some point...0.2 loss is reactive, but I didn't have a clean slate to begin testing, so I think it's worth another try
3. re-test shiitakes some time...I may skip this...not crazy about them anyway...I am really looking forward to testing yams, sweet potatoes, or butternut squash....mmmmmmm :)
Even though I am not making any progress finding friendly foods this week, I am still eating well, no junk food, so this is good. I have a few more days before my next exam, so hopefully I can find at least 2 more friendly foods before I take off.
