90 cents/gal off my gas!

Sunday, August 31, 2014

I was all comfy doing this and that in the house, happy in the fact that I did not have to open the door since the humidity is again, 92%. Sudden jolt of clarity: We have to use the Kroger loyalty fuel rewards today or lose it. I earned 90 cents off a gallon for this month and knew we had to go out in the hot steamy air...arghhhh

We filled my tank and the gas cans for $2.74/gal and got 33.7 gallons.. Great savings,,PLUS I used my My Points visa and got 94 points on that. The gas will last us all month plus some.. we use more since DD mows two huge lawns at least once a week.

I try not to use my inhaler much, but today, just standing , breathing and holding the gas nozzle, I was rasping and gasping for air.. I am so blessed to have central A/C in my house... I never take any of my luxuries for granted,, like appliances, water, electricity, etc. One moment can take them away..

We got such a huge downpour last night just before dusk, I could not see the plants at my back fence forty feet away! It lasted about a half hour, scarily just like a giant bucket of water on our house..
The weather in our state in the past year has changed drastically. I can count three days that it was not so humid that we could not go outdoors, unless it was either raining or snowing. THREE DAYS! Two days in June and one in July. I am glad we left won in August to go up north where it is usually cooler. IT rained up there too, it never rains where we go, in August, never.. usually it is a park ranger drought warning on the Smokey Bear signs.

Anybody else notice a drastic difference in their home place?

Record heats here in Florida, 100°and up. We are in hurricane season so those are to be expected but again this year they have been a minimal threat. What hasn't been a minimal threat is the storms. The thunder storms have been major, bringing tornado's, water spouts and massive amounts of lightening which has caused lots of property damage in my area.

    Gotta love a bargain!
In the UK the grocery shop who delivers to me each week has had an offer on with petrol discount. I now have 10p/litre off next time I go in for fuel.

The weather here has changed for the worst! We've had a lot of rain again and the temps have dropped a lot. People are wearing winter clothing in summer and some have even put the heating on for short periods!! Let's hope for an Indian Summer. Please send us some of your heat!

We haven't had that many days over 100 degrees like we normally do. Plus we are seeing signs of Fall already. Coopers Hawk has showed up, and we usually don't see the Hawk until late Sept/early Oct. Some trees are turning color already. It has been a odd year. I noticed Mexico getting more storms then usual, which can affect us. We didn't get rain with the last storm, but our humidity is 34%. High for here, the dry desert lol. Hang in there. It will be cool before you know it.

You know, sometimes, I am happy that I don't drive anymore. No car note, no gas, no insurance and it is a good thing. Times are tough enough right now. But I live just down the street from Kroger and the friend who goes to the grocery for me gets the benefit of the points I would get. Good price on that gas. Have a great Labor Day. In Christ, Judy

It's crazy humid here today too, although not terribly hot. It's definitely steamy out there though, and gross to be outside.

I'm with you on being thankful for my air conditioning. Our AC usually goes out once or twice a summer, which is enough to remind me how blessed I am to have it most of the time.

I haven't noticed much change in the weather in Columbus, other than it being so bitter cold last winter. The weather here is always weird anyway, though, so I"m not sure what it would take to make it noticeably weirder.

Hope you're having a good evening!
