Success Feeds Success: Running with Relatives

Great run this morning with my Galloway group. We broke my group, the Dream Chasers, into 2 groups, and I went with the slower part of the fastest group. However, about half way through my niece and I were feeling perky, so we took off and headed out to catch up to the group in front of us. On flat ground I was leading; on hills my niece was leading. Our splits:
mile one - 13:23
mile two - 12:30
mile 3 - 11:49
mile 4 - 12:06
mile 5 - 11:50
mile 6 - 12:17
mile 7 - 11:28
mile 8 - 12:35
mile 9 - 11:27
We caught up to the last person of the group in front of us. We thoroughly enjoyed our run and the socializing after. Dear niece will be passing me soon and I'm really okay with that! She left our run and went straight to an hour Zumba. I had a chocolate milk and a banana, showered and went to Weight Watchers.
Loved the meeting today. My nephew passed around a picture of him 5 months before his hospitalization at just about 300 pounds. He had a nice loss today, bringing him to more than 70 pounds lost. I am just so proud of him. He intends to apply to the fire academy when he's lost 19 more pounds. He was a little disappointed that he was not invited to run with my group. The last time he tried he could not keep up, but it won't be long. His 5k race times have gone down from 49 minute to 35 and he did one training 5k run at under 34. He is willing to be patient to get into the running group he wants. I see him just growing and maturing through this process so much. He is beyond getting discouraged; whatever happens he focuses on how far he has come. That success feeds more success!
Love that my niece and nephew run with me. Wish I could get DD, DSIL, and the grandkids. We invited them to the kid's run next Saturday, but DD begged off. Nephew says he'll change her mind. Could happen. Can't eat and can't exercise for anyone else, but we can focus on the positives of our healthy lifestyle and be living proof it can be done!
