Well first of all, the WISC-TV interview went pretty well, as usual I get on the air and start answering questions and there's so much going through my mind that I want to say, I just mess up, but hey..that's what editing is for. At least all the information was given and out there now.
A local mini-mart had one of our donation cans in their station and the manager said he'd tried to call me (no message left), and when he couldn't get ahold of me to pick up the money, he took the canister down to the wading pool behind the playground and gave it to one of the lifeguards...the thing is...we've not seen the money yet, and that's been a month or so ago.
So, the problem is...where'd the "big chunk of money" (as the clerk said) go, who's got it, and why didn't the playground get their donations which were collected? So frustrating, I'm thinking the guy dialed the wrong number, because I've been here constantly, especially the month before (July). Then I tried to call the station back and find out the date he took it down and who he gave it to, the woman working there had no clue where the playground was (mind you, this playground is about 2-3 blocks away in the HUGE park. She didn't even know where the wading pool was or the castle!!! wow..)
You've seen pictures of the castle..how can anyone miss that from the street which isn't that far away!! Seriously, you work about 2-3 blocks away and have never seen the playground..you need to get out more!!
*deep breath* Then the board had asked our city parks dept. connection (this isn't the first time, because we'd asked to have something put in there last May during the CAMDEN RIde and nothing) to put a sign in the case on the kiosk at the entry to the playground telling about our need for donations/help, and where to donate and contact us. I was down there for the interview, and .............................n
othing there. So I went home, made up a poster, laminated it, took it down and put it up with tacks on the outside of the kiosk.
I'm getting so frustrated with this guy, the one who just retired did everything he could for us, answered all my calls, emails, etc. This one....rarely do I get a response to anything. I keep thinking how in the world are we going to get this built with this lack of communication!! It just drives me insane.
Anyway, so that was my Thursday, I hope this weekend turns out better, even though they're calling for rain Saturday and Monday, keep our fingers crossed they're wrong.
Have a wonderful weekend, not sure I'll be here tomorrow. Always smile, through the storms, and try to do something for someone else one day this week, even if it's anonymously.
