Just looking at the plans I think there's a lot that needs to be changed.
#1-they totally forgot to put the "Little House on LaPrairie" in (a playhouse that was made and donated by a local 4H club, LaPrairie 4H).
#2-much of the individual equipment isn't accessible (ok, people, this IS an integrated playground)
#3-just don't like all the disconnection of it all.
#4-they totally missed the main entry into the playground and now there's a huge sandbox placed there (in the plans, not in the actual playground).
#5-the sandbox only has 1 accessible digger (we need at least 3-4 like we currently have, because they're used so much!)
And on, and on, and on.
During our meeting Monday, we have one member who is so....pushy. Every time we spoke about something he would raise his hand and say "Let's give it to the Executive board to do" (one of them was the plans for the playground), or "Let's set up a committee to look at it" (one of the fundraisers HE brought up). Then he doesn't bother to volunteer to be on the committee.
I keep thinking, look, if you don't want to discuss it, to sit through a meeting, why be on the board? I believe it's because he's one of the first members, and he just doesn't want to leave the board. Oh well, he does help some what, which is great, but he can be annoying, too.
I have an interview with WISC-TV, one of the major tv stations here in Southern Wisconsin tomorrow at 9 am down at the playground. I can speak about anything on the phone, in front of people at a meeting, but get in front of the camera, and wow, I forget half of what I want to say. Hmmmm wonder if I should just put it on my hand and read from there. *LOL*
It's going to air this weekend and be on their website, so I'll be able to see it when I get back home Monday evening. We're hoping this gets some funding coming in, because right now we've been stuck at $17,000 of the $30,000. we need to get the $70,000. from the City Council..only 1/3 of the amount we actually need.
I sent out a ton of emails to various radio/tv/newspaper places in Southern Wisconsin, so let's keep our fingers crossed.
Anyway, I hope you all have a Wonderful Wednesday and always carry that smile along with you!
