A Different Kind Of Challenge

Sunday, August 24, 2014

Wow...where do I start.

Our son and nephew both took the ALS challenge last night, they never expected me to find some ice, but I found it, thanks to the bowling alley, who also filled up the bin for us to us.

I went in the pool today, after finding it'd lost nearly 4" of water since yesterday when my son and I filled it up again. I found 2 more holes, on the posts, in the liner. That now makes 7 holes on posts in the liner that's only 3 years old. It's a liner that has a 20 year warranty. My husband and I decided we're going to hire someone to put another liner in, in the spring, because all the money we've spent on chemicals, we're not going to waste them. They'll also be bringing the water to fill the pool, too.

This is ridiculous, the other place still hasn't called us back.

I also made a video in response to those who post links and videos putting down the Ice Bucket Challenge. In it I challenge them to sit for one hour with a diaper on; not moving, not speaking, not talking; having someone feed them, change their diaper and clean them up in every way. And if they can do it, and not see the ALS Challenge in a different way, still saying it's not helping anything...then I'll donate $5 to ALS...BUT they have to prove in the video it was done for an hour without any movement at all on their part, but for their eyes, and turning their head a little.

I'm waiting to see if anyone takes the challenge. I lost a good friend to ALS in 2012 (which I mention in the video), and I'm just tired of people who put it down. As of today they've raided $62.2 million and you have no idea how much awareness. This has been their best fundraiser EVER.

Anyway, I'm getting ready to go eat, so I'll let you go, have a beautiful day, and always smile.

Sorry about the pool not doing what you expected. I hope the repair person fixes it quickly!

I listened to the story from the man who started this ALS challenge he has ALS and has for been trying to bring awareness and this is one thing that worked really good, he was the Frist one who challenged someone to do it and the rest is history. My husbands Aunt died from ALS Lou Gehrig`s. the suffering that you go though is unlike anything else. My husband is fixing to take his challenge and today my brother took his I took the video it was so cool. emoticon

Wow I was feeling bummed because I have to reline my water feature (little waterfall). My liner is 8 years old!

Really great response to the ice bucket naysayers! Yes it has been a great success for ALS awareness. I also lost a friend to ALS, he was only 45 with teenage kids and a loving wife. I participated in a walk/run fundraiser on his behalf, which was a huge time commitment for the organizers, and that event didn't go viral like the ice bucket challenge!

Sounds like you had a wonderful time @ the bowling alley. So great that they helped you with the ALS Challenge. And what an awesome response to nay-sayers!!! I couldn't have thought of a better response, that's for sure.

A 3 yr. old liner with that many holes is ridiculous! **SIGH**

Enjoy the rest of the weekend and hugs!
