An adult day

Friday, August 22, 2014

My DH and I took a drive down the peninsula to Monterrey and Carmel-by-the-Sea.
They are both scenic locations. Are there any locations on the coast of California that aren't scenic?

It was typical of us that we drove most of the day, exploring. (I'm thinking that we need to change that; we have to get out of the car and spend more time on our feet walking.)

In Carmel- by-the-Sea, we stopped for a late lunch at a Middle Eastern restaurant: Demetra. The food was very tasty and we were entertained by one of the staff members who sang Besame Mucho - and who led us all in a singalong with him. It sounds sort of cheesy, but it was really rather charming and fun.

My food for the day stayed within the limits - and that included an ice cream sandwich that we had for a treat on our way home.

It is knowing that I will be blogging here on SP every day that keeps me on target.
What a difference that has made.
Under other conditions, that ice cream sandwich might have been an excuse to forget about tracking for the day. But, that didn't happen. Instead, I estimated that i had saved enough calories so I could have it and still stay within my limits.
This approach really works for me.

Thank you SP - and all my friends here!

How wonderful! Made that trip in 1981 and thought that drive was the most beautiful place on earth.

emoticon for staying within your limits while still treating yourself. Sounds like a fun day. I would love to see Monterrey. I was actually born there but my parents moved away while I was still a baby. Someday I'm going back there to see it.

Adult time, excellent -- and west coast California is so lovely.

Tracking keeps me focused too . . . I never want to track "over" so when I'm tempted, the accountability kicks in.
