Since my workout activity is severely curtailed, I have been looking for ways to move and increase activity around the house. Right now, I need filtered air and have trouble breathing when I go outdoors. I decided to clean out my side of the bedroom closet and my dresser drawers. It took me about 2-3 hours, but I got it all done.
Hubby and I packed up the discarded items and put them into a large box. We are holding a large yard sale tomorrow. The reason is that a little boy in our area needs money for treatment of leukemia. He is 18 months old and won't have a chance at survival without monetary support. Hubby has gotten some donations from various sources, his business is donating items, I cleaned out my closet and looked for a variety of other unused items from our house, a friend is bringing over some boy's clothes and toys and the owner of a small breakfast/lunch restaurant is placing ads and providing the space for the yard sale in her restaurant's parking lot. Another restaurant owner is providing a canopy for us to sit under.
We're hoping for a good turn out. Half of what we sell, will go to the little boy. The rest will go to expenses and gas. It is exciting for me to be part of something in which the community joins together to support one of their own.
I will make sure that I take lots of breaks and sit in the filtered air. My illness seems so small in comparison to this small boy who is fighting for his life. I'm praying that in some small way, we can make a difference in his life.
