My Nine Day Vacation

Friday, August 22, 2014

Tomorrow morning, my DH flies to the state of Oregon for a Brother's Fishing Trip/Reunion. He returns next Saturday, so for 9 days, it is just Miki (our Cairn Terrier) and me. That means that my schedule for next week is completely up to me. I do have a few things planned already, but am also looking forward to filling my unscheduled days with activities that are completely spontaneous. On Monday, I will spend the day with my Mom as she has some paperwork that I hope I can help her straighten out. When finished with that, I will take her shopping and out for supper. On Thursday, I have a friend flying in from Ohio. She is a former High School classmate, who was unable to attend the reunion due to a family emergency. She will stay with me on Thursday and Friday and Friday noon, I plan to have a luncheon for her with as many of our classmates (girls) as are available. I am looking forward to her visit as it seems we NEVER have the chance to visit one-on-one without interruption. She has had a horrible year and I am hoping to be able to help in any way that I can. Her husband died suddenly in January; her stepfather became very ill in February and she ended up staying with him in Florida for 3 months. In early May, she moved him back to Wisconsin where there is more family close by. She was all set to come to our reunion two weeks ago, when her son called and told her that he had to have surgery and needed her help with his care after the surgery and the care of his two boys during the surgery. He is going through a nasty divorce and she wanted to be able to help him and his sons in whatever way she could. She is coming to Wisconsin to be with her step-father as he goes through another surgery and will hopefully be able to relax with some of her old classmates while she is here.

So.........9 days sounded like a lot of time, but I am afraid that it will go way too fast. Not that I won't miss my DH. I certainly will, but I have always thought that it is healthy for a married couple to spend some time apart occassionally too. It has always worked for us.

Have a great weekend my friends......... emoticon

It is healthy to spend time away from each other! And I pray for some, LOL. No, my DH will not go away, so I go. But the last time he was away it was in hospital, so now I am happy he is at home. Enjoy your time!

You're one of a kind! You're a gem! A sparkling jewel! What you're doing with and for your mom and then your friend/classmate is absolutely AMAZING! There should be more people in the world like you!

Of course you'll miss your DH, but you'll be having so much fun, the time will fly by. And, yes, you're so correct, married folk should spend some time apart, doing their own thing, every once in a while. It keeps the marriage FRESH!!!

    Hi Patti, emoticon

Time flies when you are having fun. Absence makes the heart grow fonder. These two applies to your nine day vacation.

Take care & have another blessed day!
