Back Walking

Tuesday, August 19, 2014

Went back walking today after a week off to rest my Achilles. It was slow going but I managed 3 laps (thank you Cindy!) before the humidity got the best of me. I still need to manage a trip to the weight room at some point in the day for some arm work. Started a new audiobook so that helps. "Death of the Kingfisher" by MC Beaton which is another in the Hamish MacBeth series. I'm reading/listening to them out of order and it seems to be okay. Some series you definately have to read in order but this isn't one of them.

I've been reading 'Forks Over Knives' this week and DD and I watched part of the DVD that goes along with it. Interesting stuff. She was getting grossed out with the scenes from surgeries but the content is very informing. I have been trying to follow the ETL plan which is pretty much exactly what Forks Over Knives says. Whole plant based diet. Occasionally I will slip up and have some animal protein with my family. I don't beat myself up over it and I probably should. The movie has made a pretty big impact on me. DD and I had watched "Food, Inc" a couple of years ago and I still can't eat chicken (and we used to raise them!). I actually gag when people talk about eating chicken or when I see a recipe on SP which has chicken in it. Something in that movie really hit home for me. Perhaps FOK will do the same when I backslide.

Yeah, I know that meat eating feeling. I feed sparrows right by my bedroom window and was eating a chicken breakfast one day while they were feeding on some oatmeal I had left out for them. Needless to say, I was getting grossed out that I was eating a chicken while they were feeding next to me. LOL.

Ugh. I'm trying to eat less meat, the more I think about them. They do have feelings, too. (The birds literally sit by my window and sing out loud if I don't have any more oatmeal left outside.) Just touches my heart. Slowly I'm making more of an effort to eat less meat.

I hope the walking continues to go smoothly. I eat chicken quite often, Food Inc sounds like a shocker!

I haven't been able to eat chicken in several years, ever since I found out about the "feces baths" they get rinsed in after processing.

I've never been a big meat eater anyway, even as a child, so going without isn't a hardship for me.

Thank you for visiting and commenting on my blog today too. Hope you're having a good Tuesday.
