Early Birthday celebrations!

Sunday, August 17, 2014

Okay my sweet friends!
I went to the chiropractor Saturday morning, she fixed my back and my knee and massaged some of those pesky stress knots away-Thanks Doc!
I hired someone to do my yard for a change!
While he mowed I took that huge zucchini cored and shredded it and made Zucchini bread with part whole wheat flour and brown sugar. I modify my recipes to make them somewhat healthier. I ended up with 5 loaves, so at my party I gave one to each of my children who live away from home. So far the verdict was -it's good!
I told Steven that yes indeed, his wife was right! Mom would like a new vacuum cleaner! Woohoo, I am now the owner of a Shark Rocket-professional sweeper! So far I used it and it seems as if it will work. I have to believe that! After 16 years my second hand Rainbow vac kicked the bucket-litterally it sprung a leak and several of the attachments were breaking. My Aaron figured I pd about $50.00 a year for it-matching the brand new Oreck he had bought for him and his wife several years ago.
Steven fixed my lawn mower-it had a clogged air filter!!!! Why didn't I guess that, with all this GA red dirt flying around. So that is working, what a relief I really can't afford another new one-that one is two years old.
He also took Erik to the storage unit while his wife and I were out shopping. They brought home Erik's tool chest-Erik is in seventh heaven. He found his drill bits, drilled a hole at the end of the crack in the brace-Steven says this is sound logic, it will block the trajectory of the crack stop it from growing. BTW poor Erik wrote me a one word note with a design to let me know what was wrong with his brace. I know where we have to work on his improvement now "CRAGAH" does not spell crack, I was so confused and thought he wanted me to go to Kroger's...oh well, he tried emoticon
My Birthday party yesterday was nice. Only one person was missing my DIL, Stephanie, is in Boston on a business trip. I had a nice big salad with tomatoes from my garden, grilled chicken tenders, corn on the cob and baked beans. Then we had a banana nut cake with stabilized whipped cream and blue berries, raspberries and tiny mint leaves for decorations-no horrible decorators icing ( I used to decorate cakes-that stuff is evil!)
Here's a picture of my cake my darling daughter made for me...

Today, I went to Mass with my friends. Before church I picked up a bit, planned a simple breakfast including zucchini bread, small individual omelettes made to order for three of my friends, Erik and me. We had a nice visit, and my one friend helped me a lot in the kitchen, even Erik helped by starting the coffee pots and slicing the zucchini bread!
Tomorrow I will work, since I really didn't do much of anything yesterday or today-picking out a vacuum cleaner doesn't really count... emoticon nor learning to use it. emoticon
So my dears, for my Birthday I slowed down-not a bad idea. Now to begin my new year-tomorrow night, Steven & Kim and Erik are taking me out to my favorite Italian restaurant...guess I'll make light choices for the day!

It was fun to read this cheerful report, but I must say it made me a little hungry, with all the talk of food I really love--zucchini bread, banana nut bread, grilled chicken tenders, corn on the cob, and that lovely berry-topped birthday cake! It's a good thing it's time for lunch as I'm writing this! Otherwise, I'd be in serious trouble! Anyway, keep having fun with your sweet family! You all seem so very close.

What a great weekend you had! So glad that you got the chance to just enjoy yourself. Had to laugh that you wanted a vacuum. I remember when I asked Jay for a wheel barrel many years ago (40 to be exact) he thought I was nuts. Well, I'm still using it!

I like the sound of your zucchini bread recipe and that cake looks so yummy!

So you are giving the gardener a rest now and getting your massages from the chiropractor. emoticon

My GF makes zucchini bread. It is delicious but I've never made it. You would never know zucchini is in it. Sounds like a great way to sneak veggies into the kids.

That sounds like one great vacuum!! Sharks are supposed to be fantastic. Your kids must really love you!! Steven sounds like a prince!

I love that cake!!! I'm not even into cake but that is beautiful!!

You certainly know how to celebrate!!
