Whole30, Day 6 (Wednesday)

Thursday, August 14, 2014

Still hanging in with the whole Whole30 thing! This about sums it up:

Yesterday TC and I got up early-early and were on our city trail by 6:30 am. We did 8 miles including 4 miles of intervals (1 minute jog, 1 minute fast walk).

Breakfast: 2 medium eggs, 1 link turkey sausage, 2 cups honeydew melon.

Lunch: Tuna salad and tomato over lettuce; baby carrots with avocado ranch dressing.

Dinner: 5.5 oz. chicken breast coated in unsweetened coconut flakes and baked; 5 oz. freshly-dug baby potatoes, roasted; kale/spinach/mushroom/onion sauteed with 1 slice bacon.

Snack: I wasn't hungry but needed more calories so I had two cups of frozen grapes.

Total: 1,458 calories.

Spark on!

    You are doing great!!!
I disagree with some of the first image....
It can be fast, (It only takes about 30 seconds to cook a scrambled egg)
It can be cheap (just plant zucchini)
It can be easy (nothing like a crisp cuke)
But what it should never be is fake.

I really needed to read that last one as I visit my mother this weekend. A little thought ran through my mind about eating whatever I wanted to and buckling down on Monday when I return. I think that is a form of giving up though....

I like looking at your menu for ideas..... emoticon

    Good work!

    I'm not fake.....
However, thanks to my neighbor's garden and the local farmer's market, I am fast, easy, cheap and organic most of the time.

Good menu for the day. Hmmm - maybe I should just use your menu - just one day behind!

I liked the little sign - makes perfect sense.

I like the sign! Reminds me to treat myself like less of a tramp (in both senses of the term).

I had a long, solo drive last week and when I stopped for gas I bought a Milky Way Midnight (Midnite?) thinking I might want some sugar if I started to feel tired. Well. Even though I wasn't feeling that tired, I took a bite anyway. And it was so gross! I used to love those things.

I don't do Whole30 but I try to eat less-processed foods most of the time. My candy bar of choice is Justin's Nut Butter Cups. They're like Reese's but made with real ingredients. I didn't realize just how much my taste has changed! It's wonderful.

    Keep up the good work!

One part of your first quote really spoke to me - don't be cheap, For my new recipe last night I bought organic chicken - free range, all veggie diet, no antibiotics etc.
It cost more but there was nothing to trim off.
However, the recipe was "fast and easy" LOL
