Whole30, Day 5 (Tuesday)

Wednesday, August 13, 2014

Yesterday was another good day although I admit I had cravings. FOR WINE! emoticon emoticon

TC and I had just finished up a boatload of yardwork yesterday afternoon. I dragged some lawn chairs out and we sat where we were, overlooking the valley. We were sitting in the shade and there was a cool breeze blowing. We got to watch the turkey buzzards soaring on the wind currents. They are a disgusting bird but beautiful to see in flight. But I digress! It would have been a perfect moment for a glass of wine, definitely NOT on the Whole30 approved list!

But the moment passed and so onward and upward.

Yesterday I did a KILLER 75-minute CardioPump class with a substitute instructor. She's just brutal. I also did 2 miles on the treadmill in addition to the yard work.

Here's what I had to eat yesterday:

Breakfast: 2 deviled eggs, 2 turkey sausage links, 1 cup watermelon (400 calories)

I also have to say that after YEARS of eating very-low-calorie "mayonnaise products", my homemade mayo is totally DELISH -- rich creamy yumminess!

Lunch: 2 tablespoons organic almond butter, celery for dipping, leftover veggies: yellow squash sauteed with onions and roasted cauliflower, 1 cup watermelon. (475 calories)

Dinner: Whole30 compliant chicken salad over lettuce and spinach, with avocado, tomato, and black olives. 1 cup honeydew (536 calories)

Another observation: I am eating WAY more calories during the day. In the past my combined breakfast and lunch would be right around 500 calories. No wonder I was STARVED by dinner and continued eating/snacking into the evening!

The authors of "It Starts With Food" say that the Whole30 program will "change your life". While I'm not ready to say that after 5 days, I'm certainly seeing change, and so far they've been good.

Happy Hump Day, Sparkfriends!!

Eating full-fat foods was really something I had to get my head around. Like you I have used low fat or fat free products like forever. I felt so guilty eating full fat items. How could I possibly lose weight. But I HAVE lost weight eating these full fat things and the difference in the taste....wow. No turning back.....

You are doing so good!!! Keep it up emoticon
