I was saddened to hear that Robin Williams had died last night. He was one of my favorite actors, truly funny and talented, and I regret that I never got to see one of his live shows. Let this be a reminder to all of us that tending to all of our health - physical and mental - is needed for true wellness. A healthy mind and a healthy body go hand in hand.
This morning, the guy and I were back on the road. Did just over 3.5 miles at a decent pace. I noticed that it was taking it out of me to transition back to the road from the treadmill after a week and a half (except for one outdoor run). Even before sunrise, it's nice and toasty out in Florida. Just a month or two more for some relief, hopefully.
The last couple of nights have been interesting - what can go wrong will. A search for a newspaper, a pan bent out of shape (leading to an unexpected pan set purchase), food forgotten in the oven (this one was scary, but fortunately, just a bit smelly), a tooth issue (not mine this time, thankfully), etc.
Made the first meal that my guy didn't care for - a beef and asparagus negamaki from Eatingwell. I substituted the flank steak ($10+ per pound?!) for a different steak, and it was a bit tough and I lacked a proper meat mallet to really get it as it should have been. I was okay with it, but while he liked the flavors, it wasn't for him. I'll use the rest of the steak that I bought for some sort of other marinated dish/stirfry/crockpot meal, and maybe try something else if I make the negamaki again. I'm playing with a beef and broccoli recipe in my head, so maybe I'll come up with something. Or I may use the components of that dish to make a stir fry instead of grilling a roll.
Not sure if I will bother reviewing the recipe here. But each not-so-right try at a recipe usually gives me ideas for something else.
