Whole30, Day 4 (Monday)

Without a doubt this Whole30 plan takes planning! I had a good day yesterday "on plan".

After-dinner snacking has always been my downfall, but with this diet's emphasis on lean protein and good fats I simply haven't been hungry at night. That's amazing to me; some nights I would be rummaging for my first evening snack before my husband was even done cleaning the kitchen. So this is HUGE for me.

Today I pick up the book for this eating plan from the library called, "It Starts With Food" by Dallas and Melissa Hartwig. I know I read it before, but apparently it didn't resonate with me the first time. Probably at the time I thought giving up carbs and dairy would be impossible!

MUSTANGAMORE, I finally told my husband I was on this new eating plan yesterday! NO, he hadn't noticed it on his own -- he said he's too busy chowing down on his own meal to notice what I've been eating! emoticon

And JLOVESDOGS, just for you, here are the pictures of what I ate yesterday!

Breakfast: 2 egg omelet with onion & mushrooms on a bed of spinach sauteed with 1 slice diced bacon and a peach

Lunch: spinach and lettuce salad with tomato topped with chicken salad made with paleo mayo and celery, onion, and banana peppers. 1 cup watermelon

Dinner: 6.5 oz. cod with roasted potatoes, onions, and carrots; sauteed summer squash topped with avocado ranch dressing.

Yesterday I also went to the fitness center and did a mile on the treadmill and then bike class. I worked in the yard with TC for another hour or so and got in my 15,000 steps. A good day!

    Thank you for the pictures! I could never post mine. I make salads in tupperware and I eat leftovers in the container I stored them in...more tupperware. LOL

Meals look good. You may need to come and cook for me. emoticon

    I do manage to eat well like that on weekends (as you say, this takes some planning).
During the work week my choices aren't always wise…

    Wow, those meals look fabulous! I understand about reading a book and not getting anything out of it the first time, b/c it certainly has happened to me.

My DH has joined me in my quest for health and has started "healthy eating" AND exercise with me. Yes, others are watching us...others are watching us....

So onward we go...together!

    The planning and preparation for this way of eating seems like it is totally worth it to get ride of the nighttime munchies. I've never had a problem after dinner, but man, do I want to eat a lot between lunch and dinner. I'm tweaking my food choices to see if they make a difference and I find that the healthier my choices, the more satisfied I am, especially if I have fruit with the meal (I guess I need the sweetness in my life).
