Crunching Numbers

Tomorrow will be two weeks straight that I have stayed within my calorie range. I lost 6.5 pounds the first week. I'm actually looking forward to weighing in at TOPS tomorrow, imagine that. I don't have to be intimidated by the scale when I know I've been honest with myself about counting calories and logging everything I ate.

Losing weight seems like such a slow tedious process, but when you put it into relative terms it is really pretty fast. At my heaviest I was just under 300 lbs. The ideal weight I would like to be is about 150. I haven't gained all of this weight suddenly. It's been at least 30 years since I've seen that number on the scale. Looking at it from this perspective I've gained roughly 5 pounds a year over the last 30 years. So, I've lost 12 pounds since my heaviest weight. That's about 2-1/2 years worth of of weight that I've lost. Looking at it in those terms I am actually losing weight pretty fast, so there is no reason to feel frustrated, or impatient. I'm doing great. I can just be content knowing that the scale is moving in the right direction.
