Bubba Walk: Different Kind of Adventure

Voted Popular Blog Post: View All Popular Posts

Monday, August 11, 2014

Took a muggy, morning walk with Bubba and rambled about stuff I知 trying and going to try. Kind of a long vlog for me, but wanted to share a couple of things, in case it helps anyone else. Feel free to learn from my mistakes! (Also feel free to skip entirely.) I知 okay with slow and steady, as long as I知 learning along the way.

I won稚 bother restating everything I said in the vlog. Suffice it to say, I知 still doing freezer meal prep for dinners. And now I知 going to extend that to lunches. I think having emergency stashes at work and in my car, is going to help during those times I知 stuck at work and can稚 get home.

Work has been pretty interesting lately. We shot an amazingly cheesy, music video for an upcoming project. Audrey did all the hair and makeup. Check out the look she gave me:

I should go to the grocery store like this.

Here痴 the rest of the 澱and. This would be funnier, if you knew what we really look like. Just know that these people are actually a nurse, teacher, worship leader, truck driver and electrician. Now, we have all discovered our secret, inner rock star. heh heh

We. Are. Rockstars

Also, we池e recovering from popping 600 bags of popcorn for the weekend. We started a new, summer movies series and are serving popcorn each week. That痴 a LOT of popcorn.

I may stop loving popcorn in the next five weeks...

We致e had fun with the set, though. Look giant, candy boxes, full of calorie-free, invisible candy. SparkWorthy.

Imagine if those SnoCaps were real! Holy cow.

And here痴 a little Pinterest win we tried. We wanted to make our movie posters light up, like the vintage signs. One of my team members found this tip and it worked really well. We cut slits in ping pong balls and slid LED Christmas lights into each ball. They form little light-up globes. It was cheap and turned out really cute. I think Shelley痴 daughter is going to use this idea in her dorm room. I知 not really a crafty person, but thought I壇 pass this along. It really is a clever idea. Just make sure the lights are LEDs, so you don稚 melt the ping pong balls

Fun little idea

Well, I suppose I値l sign off here and go tackle some housework. My house looks like it痴 been in the eye of a sharknado. (Please tell me you致e watched at least one Sharknado movie this summer. It gives your brain some necessary rest time.)

Oh, I must leave you with this inspirational photo of Bubba. I love these flowers; I think they池e totally Dr. Seussian creations. Cindy Lou Who probably has a vase of them on her nightstand. I was later informed that the flowers are called Naked Ladies, which probably makes this picture inappropriate now.

A Moment with Bubba

Your creativity is inspiring! Yes, those are Naked Ladies. I've often exclaimed, "There are Naked Ladies in that yard" and then asked the passengers in my car why they looked~ Too funny.

Something funny/scary... I know someone that actually looks like you do in your hair/makeup except in real life.

You continue to be a rare gem!

The first time I encountered these naked ladies was outside the museum at John C. Campbell Folk School a few years ago. I wanted to paint them, but had no supplies for that with me. And they've never shown their pretty faces again on any of my visits.

Thanks for the memory, AND the pic. I can not put them into the garden with the Japanese maple growing under them.

I'm still laughing about the "hair and makeup" and your notion to go to the grocery store like that! The pic makes you look a little like a cross between Roseanne Barr and Dee Snyder of Twisted Sister!! Great job.

Love you and love your vlog!
I am adventurous. I am LATE 50's and I skydived the last day in May. In July I went to Belize and toured a cave - it was crazy scary and hard - one of the most challenging things I've ever done!
I love the Lord and I love the life He is blessing me with!
Thanks for sharing your triumphs and struggles.
Also, I just got back from a mission trip to Nicaragua - and saw God at work!
Love that you are so REAL!

You should post a video of your "band!" I'm a closet rocker, too! emoticon

Sorry, haven't seen any "Sharknado" movies, but did go to see "Into the Storm," and I highly recommend it. May go see "Guardians of the Galaxy" this weekend, I've been resisting it but everyone says it's a hoot!

Like your comments about adventure. One of my goals that I've talked about is wanting to travel to Middle Earth - New Zealand, to be exact, and I've been saving my pennies for that. Not this year, hopefully next! I'm so-so with meal planning, actually haven't done that in a week or so. It seems like a To-Do list at work, something ALWAYS comes up and I have to roll with it. There are nights when I come home tired and just don't feel like cooking, but my hubby's a diabetic and has FINALLY gotten serious about counting carbs, so I need to do my part for him and get back into meal planning. I also keep a stash of "healthier" snacks in my desk, to try and avoid (or at least limit) the higher-calorie "not so healthy" yummy treats. Some days are better than others in that regard. Thanks for the video, and hang in there!!! emoticon
