For you, Blonde Dog. x

I have been quiet on the blog front, life IS quiet. After a momentous year of upheaval, there is finally a lull, and a gentle rhythm is emerging, which suits me just fine!

My weight continues to go down slowly and steadily, as of this morning I am 32lbs down, 6 inches off my waist. Blood pressure is down to 139/86, which is still a little bit high, but nowhere near as bad as the 164/104 I started with. The diet has ceased to be a diet, the knowledge seems to have finally sunk in, that sweets are not treats, they just make me feel like crap, the same with fast food, bread, hummus (that one makes me sad as I love it), and cake. All gone from my diet. It isn't quite whole 30, of which I'd never heard until I read one of the big success stories on here, but it is close. Now I just try to find the healthiest alternative wherever I am, rather than the least calorific that might be filled with sweeteners and chemicals. For instance, on a six hour car journey home the other day, we had to stop for lunch. This would normally be a gorge fest of burgers, fries, a few choccy bars, maybe even cakes to take in the car. Instead I found a service station selling salad bowls, bought a packet of unsalted cashews, and some fruit for afterwards. It meant that I arrived home without crippling stomach pains or headaches. It might be obvious to some people, and they might make the connection straight away, but it has been a long journey for me to make this stick.

This is the third time I have lost a lot of weight (the two previous attempts I lost 4stone each time, over 55 lbs). I don't intend to do it again, I just intend to carry on eating as healthily as I can, and my weight will take care of itself. I haven't managed much on the exercise front, simply because my bursitis has been too painful, but that is easing off now, so no more excuses I think. I will do the ten minutes a day challenge, maybe hoola hooping, I love doing that!

I have been looking at wedding dresses, even though the wedding is 2 and 3/4 years away yet (financial issues!), and have decided on a trumpet/mermaid style, with scooped sleeves. That is a lovely picture to keep in my head, and as soon as my maid of honour is free, we are going to do some scouting around and find some good bridal shops and start trying on. It's nice to know that I won't have to wear a plus size, although I don't want to lose all my curves, I wouldn't feel like me.

We are off on holiday next weekend, for two weeks, with my Dad, my son, my beloved, and his daughter who is 22, and a complete sweetheart. I am taking the skipping rope, and some workout dvd's, and we are all going to do some exercise, well, those that are able, and not teenagers who need to sleep 18 hours a day!

Other than that, I am trying a new project; hand painted wedding invitations. I love to paint, normally on huge canvasses, but whilst looking for unique wedding invites on the internet, I couldn't really find anything I liked, so I had a go at making my own, just a prototype, but I loved it so much it has sparked an idea. I will make a set for us, for our wedding, and I will make a few other sets and start advertising. That way each couple get completely bespoke wedding stationery, which hopefully they find beautiful,, and their guests will enjoy too. Let me know what you think!

OK, time for work here, have a gorgeous Saturday everyone.

Lots of love,
Debs x

Ack! I've missed a lot while I have been wallowing in self pity! I am so proud of you! Look how far you have come. I so wish we lived closer so I could come to your beautiful wedding. And I think the hand painted wedding invites are an amazing idea!

You sound completely sane! Making small changes to be more healthy in the long run instead seems to be working for you. I have the same problem where I have lost and gained the weight several times, but I am slowly making changes (like no sugar, limited alcohol, walking to work) and hoping that I can do better this time. Good luck on your wedding!
