STILL STRIVING FOR GOOD HEALTH

Friday, August 08, 2014

I STILL WEIGHT 211. I DID NOT GAIN BUT A DIDN'T LOSE EITHER. TODAY HAS BEEN BUSY. I HAD A DR APPOINTMENT THIS MORNING. (EYE DOCTOR) GOT A GOOD REPORT I HAVE NO DISEASES OF THE EYES. I WENT TO THE GROCERY STORE TO PICK UP FEW ITEMS. THEN I SPENT A GOOD PART OF THE DAY TRYING TO PICK UP SOMETHING I HAD ORDERED. KEPT MISSING THE PERSON. WENT HOME AND TOOK A 3 HOUR NAP. I KEEP WAKING DURING THE NIGHT WITH AWFUL PAIN(CRAMPS) AROUND MY ANKLE AND UP MY LEG. USUALLY THE (L) ONE. I ASKED 2 DRS ABOUT THIS AND THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS. I AM STILL ADDING VEGGIES TO MY MEAL BUT SOMETIME I STILL EAT JUNK. I'm WALKING, I DID MISS A FEW DAYS HERE AND THERE. I DO WALK A LOT AT WORK. I NEED TO FIND A WAY TO RELAX. MY JOB HAS BEEN VERY STRESSFUL. SOMEDAYS THERE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE ENOUGH HOURS IN THE DAY. NEXT WEEK WILL BE BETTER. HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND.

I have had some issues with sore legs from time to time over the past few weeks - I have determined that this would happen after a weekend when I would extend my workout sessions.........backing off of the exercise intensity for a day or two seems to have helped me..........also, if two doctors aren't helping you, you may want to keep searching until you find one who *is* helpful!

Hang in there!

I was going to suggest you have both magnesium and potassium levels tested when you go to the dr. next time but I see a number of people have already suggested that. The only other thing I can say is that before I had my hip replacement I got leg cramps a lot too. The reason I was getting them was because the deterioration of the joint and the pain associated with it made me walk unbalanced. I pushed off harder with my good leg and took shorter strides and put less weight on my bad leg. This lead to me over straining the calf muscle in my good leg. Try to be conscious of your stance and see if this may be a problem for you as well. If it is train yourself to notice it and take steps to balance yourself out. The sciatica that comes from repeatedly walking unbalanced will have you in more pain than any leg cramp.

Water! Muscle cramps... your body could need magnesium. Magnesium helps with muscles aches. Most people are deficient in this mineral. It helps me. You can check it out for yourself and do your research and determine if that is something that may work for you. I am not an expert, and you need to do what is right for your body needs, but for what it is worth!

I don't know if it would help, but I wasn't drinking enough water. When I drank more, I didn't get so many cramps.

I hope you have a much better week next week. emoticon

Potassium maybe; yoga might help too.

Keep showing up... the rest will eventually fall in line.

I had leg cramps when I would lie down for bed/nap... I started taking magnesium supplements, and no more cramps.

...massage sounds good, too!

Try getting a message every now and then. It isn't a constant help but it does lower the stress a little bit. YAY on the good eye report!! Hopefully the ankle pains go away.
