I have had THE BEST DAY in a very long time!
My friends' daughter was coming over today. She usually spends her days at home by herself but we wanted to have her over at some point while it was still Summer Vacation, to let her and Daughter play together and hang out. Her stepmom (they actually haven't married yet) but she is more of a mom than her "bio" mom has ever been; much like my Daddy was to me.
I will call her Friend.
So Friend shows up on the porch this morning; about the time Friend's stepmom said they'd be here. Apparently their poor little doggie they recently adopted from the animal shelter had gotten carsick, and puked in their car. The dog was going to spend the day at our house, since nobody was going to be at HER house, but when she got sick in the car, Stepmom just took her to work with her. She works at an animal hospital. The doggie was fine, had a WONDERFUL day at work. Poor Stepmom had a rough day. She got there early but a dog came in with a copperhead bite to the face! Geez! I can't imagine. So she had a crazy day.
The girls and I had a great time today! It was so nice! I had been texting a little bit with one of my SILs (that I get along with very well) since last night. This morning, we were still texting. I took the girls to the free movie, then we went to pick up a pizza we'd ordered the day before. As we're walking in to the pizza place, I heard my name. The same SIL was there with her mom and all my nieces! It was such a great surprise. The girls got to meet Daughter's friend and it was so nice to see all the girls and SIL and her mom! What a treat.
So we got our pizza and went home. We had lunch. I only ate two pieces! This is a MIRACLE. So we had our pizza, changed into our swimsuits, and piled on the sunscreeen. Then we spent a couple hours at the lake. This is a very peaceful, quiet, no-boats-allowed kind of lake. There is a dock out in the water you can swim to and jump off of. It's a glorious mountain swimmin' hole, and we absolutely love it. It was Friend's first time that she's ever been there, and she had a great time. As we left the lake, I heard her little voice from the back of my van: "thank you for bringing me today." Stepmom and I talked after they got home tonight. Friend had the BEST day, and apparently talked the entire 30 minute ride home about what a fun day she had! She also said Daughter is her best friend in the whole world. That made me feel so good!
After the girls and I left the lake, we came back home. The girls went into Daughter's bedroom and turned on a movie. I changed clothes, vacuumed, did a little light dusting, brought my houseplants back inside, and started dinner. I had a couple glasses of wine.
Then Husband and Co-worker came home. Co-worker and Stepmom are together (and their child, Friend, had been at our house all day). I had invited all of them to stay for dinner tonight. I was planning to make a big pot of spaghetti and meat sauce, salad, and garlic bread. I figured I should invite them to stay. It would really be no extra effort on my part, and it seemed silly for them to pick her up and just leave when I'd basically have dinner ready anyway.
We had such a good night! Stepmom and I watched "Outlander." All the Outlander nights will be at Stepmom's house, but the first episode is on an early release. We've each already watched it more than once but tonight we had the first episode at my house. It was so fun. She and I drank wine and talked about how hot Jamie is and how incredible the show is in comparison with the book. It was just so much fun! The whole night was good.
The other SIL, the one I've been at odds with, finally messaged me back. She said she was glad I'd messaged her, that she'd been busy, and that she wanted to respond to my message better as soon as she could. I was also pleased by her message. We'll just have to see where it goes from here. At any rate, I'm completely free of my anger.
It feels so amazing to have no more anger in my heart. Holy crap. Did I just say that?! I really and truly have NO anger in my heart. None. Zero. At all. Anywhere.
It actually feels like a miracle to me.
Today was a great day!
