Gym time

We joined a local gym just across the street from our house. It's not very big, but it sure is convenient. I can walk there in 3 minutes, and it will give me a bit more flexibility in the times that I can go.

The downside: it's not climate controlled, unlike the smelly gym at work. Not a huge deal except...this new city where we live is at a fairly high altitude, and I'd been warned that one could get much more winded much more easily in this climate. So my whereas my workouts at the work gym have been pretty good -- straight 20-30 minutes of cardio at a time, followed by weight training -- tonight during my first workout at the neighborhood place I could barely run for 3 minutes at a time on the treadmill, and at a slower pace than usual! I kept looking at the controls thinking that the machine was on an incline. But no, it remained at a steady 0, and the best I could do was intervals of 5.2 miles an hour (slower than my usual 5.5), with one minute or two of walking in between. Sigh. There are new challenges every day!
