I've had a very busy, but very good two weeks. Down two pounds going into last weekend, feeling fit and confident about reaching my goals.

...and then my company had a team-building outing. emoticon

I had a great time. I'd decided early on that I was going to indulge.

I've been super strict this summer--even on a week-long beach vacation to Zihuatanejo, Mexico in June. I actually LOST 2 pounds on that trip! I went easy on treats and booze, walked a ton, and stayed on the side of a mountain--so getting home required a hike each day. It was a fantastic vacation, and the first time in my life that I came back from vacation weighing LESS than I did when I left.

So, back to this weekend. I knew I was going to indulge, and indulge I did. 3 beers, hot dog, fries and a Frito pie. Oh lordy.

But it was delicious, and more importantly, it was the BEST experience with my colleagues.

Not suprisingly, the scale was up 5 pounds this morning, ha! I know most of that is bloat and water weight from my indulgence. But it teaches me several things:

1. Sometimes you have to let go of the rules to have the experience.

2. That's OK. It's OK to let go of the rules, but letting go has to be a mindful experience. I enjoyed my Saturday, but on Sunday, I went right back to eating within my plan.

3. For the first time, the higher number on the scale didn't make me feel guilty and upset. But it WAS a great reminder that how I treat my body has an immediate and visible effect. And while I had fun, the best part was that it made me recommit to living healthier and continuing on my path to wellness more than ever!
