Yard work in pictures

Monday, August 04, 2014

Despite being congested from last weeks "cold" I spent the weekend outside doing what I could to spruce things up in preparation for our new above ground pool. Here are some before and during pictures. The pool isn't ready yet but hopefully by the time I get home today it will be.

In the photo above is my garden on the left side (I lost interest shortly after planting this spring so nothing growing on this side of the fence. Hope to get a fall garden going in there tho. That jungle in the back was my main target. It's been two summers since we've been out here and several oak trees have died and that obnoxious one in the corner has taken over!

Here you can see it a little better!

Cleaned it up and now I'm ready for a little more weed pulling and mulch to keep the mosquitoes away.

Above is the back side of the pool deck. That's one of the trees that has died. I will lay down cardboard covered with mulch to keep the weeds from growing back here. Andy is going to cut down this tree (whats left of it) so it doesn't fall on the deck or in the pool. Have had a few of the branches dry out & they've been falling! No damage yet but now that the pool is back I'd hate to have a big limb stab the liner after all our hard work and hours getting it all put together!

Here's our pool under construction. They stopped working last night after it got dark. Trying to get the rails on the top to keep it together. I'll add a new blog once it's all done and I've planted new flowers in the pots around it. Also going to build some Adirondack chairs for a place to sit.
