Finished celebrating my birthday with my kids yesterday. We get to choose where we want to go, and I chose a place downtown. I like downtown because it is a high energy area. The restaurant had a good low calorie offering with spinach, chicken and shrimp. I really liked it, and was given a birthday dessert as well. That was great and very rich, and I just had a few bites and shared the rest. The grandkids had fun too, and were exceptionally well behaved. Birthday celebrations are fun, but now it's time to move on!

Summer is a great time to lose weight because of all the fresh vegetables and fruits. I also find it easier to retrain my appetite when I want lighter foods and am at the peak of my exercise season. I plan to make the exercise season last longer this year, even if I shorten the amount this winter. I do not have to stop for 5 months altogether! I am working on making this change even more sustainable than in years past. My summer goal is right around the corner, and soon I will be leveling off my weight again.

One of the biggest things I am doing, aside from rereading many spark articles, is working hard at building a very good repertoire of recipes for the future that I will actually use. I had a few last year, but I'm going full steam ahead on that project now. I also am working on being satisfied with less food by eating more slowly to give it a chance to register with me that I have eaten. That has been a very hard thing for me to learn, but it's getting better.

    It is great how you are planning ahead by getting recipes! And as for exercise, I don't know. I can't tolerate the cold (ice and snow) very well so if I lived up there again, would I exercise outside in the winter? I am not sure. I guess I would have to find things to do indoors. Last winter I used the treadmill a whole lot but this year I am going to try to do it outside.
