Can someone please tell me where the year has gone so far? I cannot believe it's August already. Exciting though - I've got a lot of upcoming events in the last few months of the year that are going to be a lot of fun - couple of trips, a few races, family visits, birthday, and holidays. It's going to be busy but a lot of fun.
Whole30 is going well - I'm on day 6 so far. Having everything cooked up or at least organized I has been INCREDIBLY helpful. There's not any "hmmm, what am I going to make now?". Preparedness is key. I'm going to have to sit down tonight and decide what I need to cook up new this weekend since I still have quite a bit of food left from my first cookup. Chili's almost gone though - that was REALLY good. I've also developed quite a liking for the sunflower butter that was on the list - just like peanut butter but I have to be careful not to eat a lot of it. I will be weighing in on Monday (yes - I know you're not supposed to weigh yourself. But my dad and I have checked in EVERY Monday this year with each other about how our fitness and weight has gone for the previous week). I'm hoping to see a good number there. The Whole30 is good for me also to reset my diet - I'd gotten somewhat off track between my beach vacation, three day work meetings (where they fed us), my German festival, and just some not good meal days outside of that). Having the strict guidelines will help and I plan to keep my eating to mostly protein and veggies with much fewer processed carbs. Just need to keep on track.
I read a blog today on Sparkpeople where the blogger made a great point - if she lost 2 pounds a month at the end of the year she'll have lost 10 pounds. That's not bad. I'm going to be slightly more ambitious and aim for 4 pounds a month (1 pound a week) - that's 20 pounds - that puts me at 160. :) Not where I would be hoping to be at the end of the year, but I'd be very happy with it - it'd be 40 pounds down for 2014. We'll see how it goes!
