Update on all the family members, including me.

Wednesday, July 30, 2014

My older DD is doing well, drove around and took the kids to the pool AFTER she picked up the epi-pen. Also took a buddy to feel safer for a bit.
Lucas had lots to talk about with his candy venture, something which does not occur in any of our households.
Imagine...A kid who doesn't get much opportunity to pick candy and what did he pick?
Two Sour Patch Kids.
I wish I had my camera!
Ben is none the worse for the wear. Babies don't care as long as they are fed and watered, warm and snuggled.
SIL is kicking himself for not realizing how dangerous this was. Now he knows, so get over it! He's the only one in our family with no medical contact.
My family is expert.
My younger DD still has neurology appointments, more tests and no answers. I think in the end it will be minor stroke prevails. Her vision has improved so perhaps there will be minimal permanent damage.
She lost her job in all this so the angst level is high. She was proud to be off my payroll. She won't qualify for any disability payments as she was on her job for less than 90 days and is not permanently disabled.
DH went to the cardiologist and complained about his 30lbs weight loss. Says he can't understand why he lost all that weight without trying.
I'm holding my breath because I explained his endocrine system to him in minute detail and told him exactly why and how he has lost the weight and what his body is doing to itself.
Sit there and drink another 3 sodas and have a bowl of ice cream, bud.
I topped off the past 5 days by firing a beloved staff member today and will probably hear about it for days from other staff. I also will be watching my car, where I park and my back all at the same time.
I ate a 1/2 bag of chips because there's no ice cream in the house.
Better than drinking a bottle of booze.
I think.
It's only Wednesday

No, I,d go for the booze. With the chips, followed by a drunken trip out for ice cream.

Sometimes you just get days like this.

I'm sorry things didn't work out with the staff member. I know you tried. DH is in a difficult situation with one of his, she is complaining all over the place to others and he can't say a thing about the back story. No way is he paid enough, but he has to wear it.
Can you ask security to keep an eye on your car?

As for DH. Sometimes it needs to come from outside before you can hear it. You are inside, not outside. Hopefully his cardiologist sends him to an endocrinologist...

In the meantime, we have a soda stream, it carbonates water to make plain soda water. I add organic vanilla essence and stevia to sweeten and flavor and it is absolutely delicious. You can add other essences too, and you can get diet soda flavors, though I don't use such things. Maybe DH would be able to switch with a little encouragement?
And how about starting to make icecream and sorbets at home for him, that way you can substitute good stuff for some of the bad stuff. Avocado icecream, yum!
I know it's not optimal, but it,s something, and, you know, baby steps...

I am glad your older daughter bounced right back and is doing well. I will pray that your younger daughter had a one time experience and gets her health back 100% and lands the perfect job when she is ready.

I had to fire someone this week to - I am not popular this week either! It is never fun, but, sometimes it has to be done.

Hang in there, it's gotta get better.

Thanks for the update. I'm sure you could use less excitement at your house. Me too.

I related to the firing. At one of my last jobs I had to fire a hand full of people in a brief period of time - one a woman in her 80s, a woman in the 70s, the mayor's daughter, and a single mom. It was really what I was hired to do. The firings were all completely justified but it didn't make me popular and I heard how heartless I was. My response, "Get to work."

I love chips, love ice cream too. After what you have been through lately I probably would have had both. Hopefully things will calm down soon for both of us.

Hang in there. You plate and cup are overflowing there!
