Massive amounts of sugar and oil for NO CALORIES!!

Monday, July 28, 2014

Yes you heard me! It's called a sugar polish, and I just had one at the Arlington Spa in Hot Springs, Arkansas. They mix sugar and olive oil and scrub it all over your body, then wrap you up in plastic for 25 minutes before rinsing it off. It feels decadent! And it is totally calorie free!

I highly recommend it, followed, of course, by a massage. What a treat!

Friends made this for me for Christmas one year. I also make one with coconut oil and salt. Both are great!

I see in the comments mention of the sugar as an exfoliant. That would be as they are smearing it on you. (Down and to the left, please) Perhaps the sugar acts in the wrap phase as slightly dehydrating agent, while the olive oil is soaking into the upper layers of the skin. Besides grinning ear to ear from having spent such a long time in such a close proximity with so many calories without so much as an ounce of weight gain, how did you look afterwards?

P.S. if the sugar is an exfoliant, think of that as you imagine licking your fingers!

How yummy! It must feel good!
That's the best calorie-free treat I've heard of in a while. I'm sure the massage was a fitting ending as well!

Seriously, you're in Hot Springs right now?

I was just kayaking at Rockport about an hour away tonight after work! Small freaking world!

I wish there was a way to meet you in person - I've followed your blogs for years now. :-)

And yes, I agree that topical application of sugar and oil is 100% preferable to taking it internally.

I bet that felt terrific!! I add a little sugar to my facial wash for an exfoliant, never thought of using it all over!
