That's what we all should realize, it might be why we fail. We only see the end result and don't acknowledge the journey to get there and the true reasons why. It's possible, 99% of us are trying to lose weight because of our appearance. We don't like the way we look or how others perceive us so we try to lose weight to conform to society's standards of what beautiful is.
That's how I see my younger friends who say that they gotta hit the gym anytime they eat something like desert or sweets. Whether it's true or not is another story.
If there's anything that I learned during my journey this time, it's the realization that I'm trying to get healthier to prevent heart disease which runs in my family. My grandfather died from a heart attack at age 40. I really should consider myself fortunate and continue working on my health.
I want to live longer & stay out of the hospital. I don't want to take any medication every morning just to function normally. I want to be able to run an obstacle course or a half marathon with ease without my heart pumping crazily & me suffering from heat stroke (which might happen if I was healthy anyway). I want to be healthier, losing the weight and looking better is a bonus!
