present rule...keep up the momentum

Back to the closets...whew...what a job! No modeling yesterday as the DGD's had to leave at noon. We worked through the second closet to sort into piles: keep, try on and discard.

Then we went back to the kitchen to redo and dispose...two more bags of trash and one of recycling containers...YAY... emoticon emoticon We took all ten bags to our town's transfer station. And the results...

cupboard under the sink...

cupboard beside the stove...done...

(Not much has changed in outer appearance, but we did weed out things...especially in the labeled boxes. Believe it or not we use all those wooden bowls regularly!)...

Here's the overall effect...

Not very different, but more efficient for us now is the small counter area...

(The white section pulls up...or lets down...a great suggestion from the master carpenter who put in some of the cupboards in 1971)

The dish cupboard yielded a few good yard sale and donation items. This 1980 something set...

is being replaced by this 1951 set purchased by my parents when I was about nine. I always loved its gay flowers...

dish cupboard...

DGD Char is back, so today we must do the rollaway...

and more clothes...

I love the dish's from 1951 I was one year old then!! I was sorting out papers this evening so I made a dent in that area. The weather was rather cool this evening had my Mom over we sat out on the porch swing talking for awhile. I love old dishes to me they tell a story. When my brother was in Japan he sent me a 12 piece dinnerware set trimmed in platinum, they had the emerald green stemmed water glasses, the stemmed dessert glasses plus the wine glasses to go with the set. Absolutely beautiful However, the one that holds memories for me is the set that has all colors, the one place setting is pink, one yellow, one green, and one blue. My husband found them 30 years ago in a Woolworth store. The set holds memories for me as my grandmother had the same kind of dishes all colors she lived on a farm and I loved going there. My husband new how much I loved my grandmother's dishes they were only $39.99 compared to the set from Japan valued at over $2000.00 I appreciate that my brother bought them for me,but the colored one's have more value to me memory wise.
Thank you for sharing your photos and bringing back memories of my grandmother!!
